Agenda Set for First Workplace Violence in Healthcare Advisory Meeting

SEIU Local 121RN member Julius Loyola, RN, testifying on June 19 to the Cal/OSHA Standards Board about the need for a comprehensive workplace violence prevention standard for healthcare workers.

The process of getting a comprehensive workplace violence prevention standard for healthcare workers in California is underway. Cal/OSHA will hold its first Workplace Violence in Healthcare advisory meeting on Wednesday, September 10, at the Elihu Harris State Building at 1515 Clay Street in Oakland from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Click here for the agenda, which will include a discussion about defining workplace violence, the scope of coverage, and key components of a workplace violence prevention program.

The California Safe Care Standard campaign (co-led by SEIU Local 121RN and SEIU Nurse Alliance of California) team will be attending this first public meeting and stress that this new regulation must provide protections for ALL healthcare workers in the state. You can read our petition that the Cal/OSHA Standards Board unanimously accepted on June 19 here.
